KRL Commuter Line Expansion 2026: New Routes & Electrification
Complete guide to KRL Commuter Line expansion in 2026. Covers new routes to Cikampek, Sukabumi, and Rangkasbitung, and the new JIS station.
KRL Commuter Line Today
The KRL Commuter Line is the backbone of public transport in Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek), serving over 1.3 million passengers daily across multiple routes. In 2026, the network is undergoing its biggest expansion in decades.
Current routes include the Red Line (Jakarta Kota-Bogor), Yellow Line (Jakarta Kota-Depok), Green Line (Tanah Abang-Serpong), and Blue Line (Tanah Abang-Cikarang). But major changes are coming.
New Routes Coming in 2026
1. Jakarta-Cikampek Line
Extension of the Blue Line from Cikarang to Cikampek, adding approximately 30 km of new track. This will connect Bekasi Regency to the eastern outskirts of Jakarta. The route requires electrification of the Cikarang-Cikampek corridor at a cost of approximately Rp 1.28 trillion.
2. Jakarta-Sukabumi Line
Extension of the Red Line from Bogor to Sukabumi, adding approximately 50 km of new track. This will provide direct commuter access to the popular hill station city of Sukabumi. Also requires electrification at similar cost to the Cikampek line.
3. Jakarta-Rangkasbitung Line
Extension of the Green Line from Serpong to Rangkasbitung in Banten province. This will serve the growing residential areas of South Tangerang and Lebak Regency.
JIS Station: New North Jakarta Hub
The Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) station opened on June 22, 2026, as part of the Pink Line (Jakarta Kota-Tanjung Priok). Located between Ancol and Tanjung Priok stations, it serves:
- Jakarta International Stadium events
- Ancol entertainment district
- Residential areas of North Jakarta
- Transjakarta routes 12P and 14B
- Mikrotrans JAK 90 and JAK 120
Currently operating with one platform, the station will be developed into a permanent facility within approximately one year. Operating hours extend to 21:30 WIB, with extensions possible during major events.
